Stepping Up

Every year we go through elections. This year we will once again go through the process of elections. We have a few positions up for election. If you have attended enough meetings then you will be eligible to run for:

• President
• Treasurer
• Sargent-at-Arms
• Executive-at-Large

Of course the two top jobs will be a circus but there are many good people running for the job and for different reasons but if you are up to the challenge I encourage you to put your name up for election. I will be running again for my current Executive-at-Large position as well as Sargent-at-Arms. Our bylaws allow you to run for more than one position and I hope to fill one of the two roles. My campaign should start later but I wanted to encourage those who thought about running to come out and run for a position.

You have to do three things.

1. Get an election form from the National Rep at the union hall.
2. Have two members in good standing endorse you.
3. Submit the form to the National Rep by the end of the January general meeting.

Being involved in your local has many levels. If you are up for it like I am you should run. Elections are a great form of democracy in action and this year we have some very important roles up for election.
