New Poster

If you don't know election are on top of us. Here is the poster you should be seeing that I made. It was quick and dirty. Thank you to everyone that has supported me in the past. I hope that you will let me continue.

Here is what the poster says:
Listen my fellow Outside Workers,

I know you’re thinking, it’s time to vote... again. A whole bunch of guys I don’t know, who seem to just not understand where I am coming from. I get it. I was one of those guys who didn’t understand what CUPE was or why I had to give nearly 2% of my income to the union. Over time though I have grown to understand why it is important to be an active member in the union and I have had my eyes opened to just how big CUPE is. My goal is to make sure your concerns are heard, but also to inform you about what the union can and sometimes can’t do for you.

I have been active in this union local and I hope to gain even more momentum.

  • §   I am the Job Steward Chair, I sit on the Social, Bylaw, and Communication committees, my current commitment to the JEQ is ongoing as I sit on the joint committee where we hope to see it finalized by the this year (Seriously).
  • §   I have just finished my first CUPE National Young Workers Committee after spending a time on the CUPE Alberta executive as their young worker.
  • §  I have been with the City for 11 years, and part of the union for a little more than 6. I enjoy this, and I enjoy where it is headed.

I am still growing and I want to start moving up the ranks in our Local. Due to our bylaws I am able to run for multiple positions. Thank you for making this possible and I hope in the future I am able to continue to work for all of our interests.

If you’re interested in my progression and desire information on the union from my perspective please follow my blog about the union hall on the internet at http://cupe37.blogspot.com otherwise I encourage you to vote when you get your package in the mail and try to come to the hall at least for 1 or 2 meetings this new year.

Thank you for your time, I look forward to serving on the executive as long as you allow me to.

In Solidarity,

Scott Cush
