Calling into the employer as sick or after an accident shouldn't be difficult. Yet many of us think we have to pretend over the phone or tell people way more than they need to know. A proper claim is simple. A suspicious claim is hard. Why not try simple?

Embrace with Caution - How to Accept Technology?

My main goal is to make all of our members aware of what is happening with the Local. It would be great to have 10% coverage, but what would it take to reach 90%? We will talk about that and what sort of things would have to happen to make that a reality.

Our collective speaks to equalization of the distribution of OT. Every year it fails to deliver. Lets talk about why. Lets also talk about why OT can be a problem in the bigger picture when it comes to full time staffing.

The Unifor Conundrum

My take on the current CLC/Unifor issue. Its a long one, so if your not interested in issues outside the Local, you can skip this one (10min). I think this situation is one of those sleeping giants that needs to be talked about.

Become a Job Steward

Believe it or not being a Job Steward can be both rewarding and degrading. Depending on the environment the active job steward will be a lightning rod for many of the issues shared with the employees and managers.

It is still important to have job stewards and I think more important to have job stewards start before the conflict begins. Whether you have been called to the roll or feel no other option the roll can be rewarding if you let it.

We will talk about what it takes to be a job steward, and how to get good at it.
