The End of the Retirement Allowance
There is some news on the Retirement Allowance. It is going to end fairly soon. Currently it exists in a Collective Bargaining Agreement that isn't ours, and there are enough people who are likely to retire before the end of this allowance in order to take advantage of the dividend. Are you one of those thinking of retiring? If so you may need to consider going sooner than you thought.
Council wanted to end the practice immediately, but it looks like there will be an estoppel in order to legally end the practice. It is possible this will be challenged but you may not want to wait around.
